Stunningly beautiful, wild nature…

The best time to walk along Wharariki Beach is towards low tide. See the NZ Metservice website for Wharariki Beach tide time and surf conditions

Absolutely breathtaking, natural beauty at one of New Zealands most secluded beaches.

Beauty

Due to the relatively remote location, Wharariki Beach is often uncrowded. This gives it a serene calmness and the wind that blows along the beach covers footprints leaving the impression that you are the first people to ever walk along the golden, shimmering sands.

Wharariki Beach is an ideal location for various forms of photography including landscape, long exposure, timelapse and astrophotography.

Nature

There will be lots of opportunity to spot native animals and birds in their natural habitat at Wharariki Beach.

You will often see fur seals sunning themselves on the beach or seal pups at play in the rockpools nearby. There are colonies of seabirds that gather in and around the sand dunes before going to feed out at sea.
